There are many moments in life when what we expect, plan, and work hard for doesn’t turn out the way we hoped. The feeling can be devastating and disappointing. Sometimes, it causes us to pause, reflect, and reassess the decisions and plans we’ve made.
Our efforts and sacrifices may seem to have been in vain—and I believe that’s one of the most painful experiences in life: when something you’ve worked so hard for and dreamed about for months doesn’t happen, and you’re left with no choice but to stop and let go.
While it’s painful and discouraging, we come to realize that life goes on. And with each experience comes growth and valuable lessons.
My comfort comes from the Word of God:
“Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” (Proverbs 19:21)
Truly, most of us have our lives mapped out. We make plans and determine our steps—but I believe that true success only comes through the wisdom that comes from God. That’s why it is so important for us to seek Him and know Him, so our efforts are not in vain.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9)
When we fully rely on Him and choose not to lean on our own understanding, we begin to see things fall into place in His perfect time.
May the Lord give us the courage and wisdom we need while we wait for His coming.
